Week 5: Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a show!!!!

Posted by brian on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 11:50am (PST)

This past week we had the previews and opening of all 3 shows. Can I just tell you how relieved I am that Richard III came together and became a cohesive show? Don’t get me wrong, I am glad Midsummer and Cambio came together, but being ASM, I put extra pressure on myself to get Richard going. And …

Break a Leg!

Now you have to understand, I usually am really good at handling stress. I found out this week that I am not as good as I thought I was.

We started tech week this week: The work is not hard for me, in fact I find myself almost enjoying taking care of and setting out all the props. I put too much …

So I have now concluded my second week up here at the Lake. Basically my life right now is wake up at 9-9:30, do my morning routine (shower, brush teeth, etc), and get to rehearsal by 10. I am at rehearsal until 6pm with an hour lunch break from 1:30 to 2:30pm.

Week 1: Into the Fire

Week 1: Into the Fire

Posted by brian on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 12:05am (PST)

Well “Fire” isn’t exactly the right term. This week I started my PA duties up in Lake Tahoe. I am the Assistant Stage Manager (ASM) for Richard III, so most of my energy is focused on that play, but I’ll start at the beginning.

I arrived late Monday night, so my first real day Tuesday, an…

A review of work in the UNR Scene Shop

Posted by brian on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 12:03am (PST)

So this is my first blog that I am posting, obviously, and as such I decided that I should go over the work that I did before I came up to Reno.

For the first month of my internship I worked at the scene shop at UNR. These few weeks were informative, education, but full of test and trials for me….

Sex in the City and Shakespeare?

Sex in the City and Shakespeare?

We know Shakespeare’s work is still very relevant to modern day society, that’s why his literature is still taught to our children and why it is some of the most produced theatre in the world. The themes of Shakespeare’s plays center around human nature and emotion – the stories of love, jealousy,...
