Week 5: Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a show!!!!by brian
This past week we had the previews and opening of all 3 shows. Can I just tell you how relieved I am that Richard III came together and became a cohesive show? Don’t get me wrong, I am glad Midsummer and Cambio came together, but being ASM, I put extra pressure on myself to get Richard going. And you know what, we have 4 performances already and the only problems have been little technical things like props breaking. The most intense experience was on Richard’s preview where there were what seemed to be hurricane force winds whipping our various maskings around. I had quite a time trying to hold one set closed and the other from smacking the actors. WHOOF! Opening was a little rough with the introduction of some new sound cues, but now on our fourth performance, it went off without a hitch, as far as I’m concerned. On a different note, I’m happy because my best friend from Reno, Kevin, moved up to Incline this week to work on the shows. So I look forward to hanging out with him. I only hope that he and the other interns remain optimistic. We have all worked so hard and I don’t want any of us to get discouraged. So things turned out pretty much as I expected. I knew it was going to be fine when the shows started, and it has. Except for some scheduling surprises, I am pretty pleased right now with what’s going on. WHEW! Now I can relax a little…but only a little. |
